This somerset based knit designer & author of three books has just launched a set of exciting new designs which are available directly via her website, and to add further to the excitement, these are available as single pattern downloads - hurrah!
|'Little Neath' Shrug|
Alison has just added a number of lovely designs to her collection, named after caving adventures. As well as being passionate about knitting, she has recently developed a new addiction to cave climbing!
I particularly like her 'Little Neath' Shrug and not just because of the location it refers to!!! This design has plenty of textural interest with some lovely beaded detail, yet is completely achievable in terms of fiddliness or time - the Crowther-Smith trademarks!
Another favourite of mine are the stylish Charterhouse Mittens, again inspired by and named after a cave. The diagonal lace and bead 'rifts' across the backs are quirky and original.
A prolific knitter & designer, Alison regularly blogs and if you peruse her website further you will also find other snippets of interest and insights into the Crowther-Smith creative psyche, even her set of knitting rules.
Other treasures include the occasional free pattern like this cute felted pincushion, and some great photos of her garden.
As well as luxury knits, Alison also offers the ultimate in luxury workshops at her home studio, Court Cottage, where you will be receive expert tuition in a relaxed and intimate environment, and also be treated to a delicious home cooked lunch - if you are fortunate enough to get a place that is!
